MEDIA ADVISORY

April 6-8th at the Hotel Kabuki, San Francisco

Jack AndrakaSunday, April 6th marks the start of YTH Live in San Francisco. The opening plenary, sponsored by Kaiser Permanente, features the voices of dynamic young health tech innovators and TED luminaries Jack Andraka, Jacqueline Emerson and Adora Svitak and friends. The passions of these changemakers cover the breadth of topics including health, education, media and policy: YTH Live will be the first time all 7 are in conversation together to inspire and inform social change.

More than 400 young leaders, technology experts, health professionals, parents, educators, community leaders, researchers, and policymakers from across the U.S. will exchange ideas and insights during the three-day conference. The importance and value of youth innovation across the technology and health sectors will be represented with more than 50 session, posters and special events, including:
• Wearables for Youth Wellness
• Gaming for Health
• Youth Digital Conversations for Violence Prevention
• Tech for Youth Resilience
• A new Youth-Driven “Virtual Safety Net” for youth re-entering after institutionalization
• Special panel discussions and meetups on youth leadership and health advocacy through digital and mobile tech tools.

YTH Live will feature a special series of moderated Listening Sessions, hosted by the Office on Women’s Health at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, around emerging technologies that inspire, inform and engage young women and girls in their own health and wellness. These sessions will focus on the needs of our most vulnerable communities across the nation, who will have their voices amplified by YTH Live attendees.

YTH Live participants will also have access to a Social Media Lounge hosted by AIDS.gov and YTH Advisory Board. Young and old will work alongside each other to overcome digital challenges in reaching our most vulnerable communities around critical adolescent health issues.

YTH Live 2014 is sponsored by Kaiser Permanente, Vodafone Americas Foundation, the National Institute of Mental Health, the National Office of Women’s Health, the Ford Foundation, Orasure Technologies, One Pacific Coast Bank Foundation and Health 2.0.
