Liveblog: YTH Live Keynote by Deb Levine, ED of YTH

Our new name is YTH — pronounced Y-T-H, for Youth Tech Health.

The look is new but our commitment to educating and advocating for young people is stronger than ever. You knew us through many names — inSpot, collaborations, TechSexUSA, SexTech, ISIS — and now you know us as YTH!

Now we’ve become a stronger collaborative think tank! We are coming together under the banner of YTH.

We believe that young people deserve real information, when they need it, how they want it. Not all young people are the same – young people of color, low-income youth, suffer disproportionately.

We —> Pilot new technologies / Discover what works / Evangelize our learnings
You —> Are the key to our success.

Today is for Tomorrow, inSpot, Circle of 6.

Unete Latina –> Problem: The rates of domestic violence victims in Fresno County, California are incredibly high. But we can’t just go to women and tell them we want to help them. How can we reach them? It turns out the older women all have smartphones! They access the entire web for $60 a month and that’s how they access the web. We can use texting & data to reach these women in a secure way.

Oregon Reminders for MSM & IV Drug Users – People can write their own text message reminders to help stay on track with HIV testing, medication, and more. Already, seventy people have signed up for medication reminders via SMS or Email or digital voice for 90 different medications since launch.

Giving Voice to Underserved Youth in Colorado — we are giving voice to Latina women in Denver, Colorado and we’re very excited about it.

Power to the Pocket — a disruptive mobile gaming app for youth who are HIV+ — how can we help teens reduce stigma and remember their medicine?

Join us at where we focus on innovation and simple technologies to reach young people where they are!
