Improve Your Social Media Skills

Interested in using blogs, podcasts, Facebook and Twitter, but not sure where to start? Want to increase your organization’s reach? If you are attending YTH Live, volunteers from YTH’s Youth Advisory Board will be available to answer your social media questions in the AIDS.gov Social Media Lounge.

Along with general social media savvy, our YAB members will be available for deeper consultation on more specific topics. Donya will be sharing strategies and tips for social media campaigns in youth health. Cindy’s interests lie in helping traditional healthcare organizations use social media to improve healthcare. Max offers knowledge on website management and revamping an organizational online presence. Gloria has extensive experience blogging and leveraging a social media presence to engage with larger entities. Anthony’s interests lie in real time – live tweeting and updating from events, as well as engaging followers through hashtags. Jenna Gaarde, a longtime ally of YTH and currently a Masters in Public Health candidate at UC Berkeley, works frequently with the YAB. In the social media lounge, Jenna offers expertise in using LinkedIn. Londi, YTH’s Communications Assistant, will share her experience planning and executing multi-platform social media campaigns. In addition, AIDS.gov’s New Media Coordinator, Yumna, will be at the Social Media lounge providing a chance to ask your social media questions about Instagram, editorial calendars, Twitter engagement and more!

The lounge will be open April 26-28 at Hotel Kabuki in the Spring Room. Specific hours are listed on the conference schedule. Topics offered in the lounge include but are not limited to:

  • Developing an effective social media strategy
  • Using social media tools for social change and health communication
  • Producing short video and audio podcasts
  • Monitoring and evaluating the use of social media

We hope you stop by the social media lounge! Relax on comfy couches and chairs in the lounge. Power up your devices at our charging stations. Take break to check email and update your social media accounts. And network with attendees who are just as passionate about youth, tech and health as you are. Let us know you’re coming and help spread the word by using the hashtag #YTHLive.

What is YTH Live?

This April, the brightest minds working in youth advocacy, health and technology will gather at YTH Live. Taking place on April 26-28  at Hotel Kabuki in San Francisco, the conference showcases new technologies geared towards advancing the health and wellness of youth, young adults, and other underserved populations.

Over 600 attendees and 2,000 online participants are expected. Together we’ll cover topics including online dating abuse, technology for HIV prevention and education, and more. We are also excited to offer YTH Live’s first Tech Check session, where you can test out and interact with the new technologies and apps showcased at the conference. See the complete list of sessions at YTH Live.
